\"Trento\"<\/a><\/span><\/span>Close to the high peaks of the Alpine foothills, <\/span>Trento<\/span><\/strong> is a pretty town rich in history and art, the capital of the Trentino-Alto Adige region, inhabited by 120,000 people in 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is a town that already existed in prehistoric times and which the Romans developed under the name of Tridentum. It was ruled by prince-bishops from the 11th century until the beginning of the 19th century.
The town’s name became famous in 1545 with the <\/span>Council of Trent<\/span><\/strong> where the Catholic Church laid the foundations of the Counter-Reformation to face the rise of Protestantism.<\/span><\/p>\n

Its historic centre has preserved medieval buildings and Renaissance-style palaces whose facades are painted with frescoes, particularly in <\/span>via Belenzani<\/span><\/strong> and on the main square surrounded by the <\/span>Duomo<\/span><\/strong> and the <\/span>Palazzo Pretorio<\/span><\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n
