Cavalese is a small resort in the beautiful Val di Fiemme valley, located at nearly 1,000 metres above sea level, and a lovely summer destination for exploring the valley with Lake Paneveggio. It lies at the foot of the few ski slopes of Cermis.
In the centre of the village, the Palazzo della Magnifica Comunità dates back to the 13th century, with a very beautiful facade covered in frescoes.
In the Middle Ages it was the seat of a community of eleven partly autonomous towns.
