TrentoClose to the high peaks of the Alpine foothills, Trento is a pretty town rich in history and art, the capital of the Trentino-Alto Adige region, inhabited by 120,000 people in 2021.

It is a town that already existed in prehistoric times and which the Romans developed under the name of Tridentum. It was ruled by prince-bishops from the 11th century until the beginning of the 19th century.
The town’s name became famous in 1545 with the
Council of Trent where the Catholic Church laid the foundations of the Counter-Reformation to face the rise of Protestantism.

Its historic centre has preserved medieval buildings and Renaissance-style palaces whose facades are painted with frescoes, particularly in via Belenzani and on the main square surrounded by the Duomo and the Palazzo Pretorio.
